Most Pompeii day trips are sold as one fixed package. This one is built from options: the Extended Pompeii Tour alone, or the same with Mount Vesuvius added, either as a hike up to the crater or as a gentler walk with a geologist. Lunch is a separate add-on, and the format can be group, semi-private or private.

The Pompeii part is a skip-the-line visit with an archaeologist, through streets, houses, baths, shops and theaters. With the lunch option, the meal is three courses (pizza, an appetizer and dessert) at a restaurant overlooking the Bay of Naples. On Vesuvius the views reach Capri and Sorrento, and the crater trail is an uphill walk of roughly 20 minutes at a 14 degree angle.

The crater trails can be closed from November to March, or in high winds and bad weather, and the itinerary is adjusted when that happens. Vesuvius also requires the names of all passengers at booking.

What's included

  • 3-course lunch at an authentic Neapolitan restaurant (if option with lunch is selected)
  • Skip-the-line entrance ticket to the Pompeii Archaeological Site
  • Scenic geologist-guided walk in the Vesuvius area (if Geologist option selected)
