Private Pompeii and Herculaneum Day Tour with Hotel Pickup and Driver-Guide
Two Roman towns, one vehicle, no timetable to share with anyone else. A private driver-guide collects the group at the hotel and drives to Pompeii and Herculaneum, both buried by Vesuvius in 79 AD, and brings everyone back at the end of the day.
Pompeii is the bigger site and the better known, with roofless but otherwise intact buildings and plaster casts of victims. Herculaneum is smaller and described as better kept, and it makes a useful comparison with its neighbour. Entry tickets for both are not included and are bought separately.
The tour runs for about 8 hours and takes up to 8 people per booking. Infant seats are available.

Archaeological Park of Pompeii
Pompeii is one of the most visited archaeological sites in the world, a whole town frozen after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. With the guide option, the roofless buildings, the plaster casts of victims and a few erotic frescoes come with explanation.

Herculaneum is smaller than Pompeii and probably better preserved. Like Pompeii, it shows what daily life in a Roman town looked like 2,000 years ago.
