Pompeii Small-Group Tour from Rome by Train with Estate Lunch and Premium Wine Tasting
The wine is the second half of this day. After a two-hour guided walk through Pompeii, a shuttle takes the group to a local estate, often a vineyard on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius, for a multi-course lunch of regional ingredients with a tasting of six wines and two liqueurs. The guide explains the volcanic terroir behind them, and a vegetarian option is available.
Getting there is part of the package: round-trip high-speed train tickets from Roma Termini to Naples Centrale, sent the day before, and a dedicated shuttle between the station and Pompeii. Skip-the-line entry to the archaeological park is included, so the walk starts without a queue.
Inside, the small group (20 people at most) follows a local guide through the Forum, the thermal baths, the ancient bakeries and the patrician villas of the city buried by Vesuvius in AD 79. The tour starts and ends at the railway station, with no hotel pickup or drop-off in Rome.
