PositanoA small group, an archaeological guide and skip-the-line entry are all arranged before the day starts. Pickup is at your hotel or the nearest practical spot in Positano between 7:35 and 7:50 in the morning, and the drive to Pompeii takes about an hour.
On site, the guide spends roughly two hours taking the group through the excavated streets, temples and houses, stopping at the frescoes that still cover some villa walls and explaining what happened to the people of Pompeii when Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. With so few people, questions are easy to ask and answers don't get lost.
The transfer runs in an air-conditioned vehicle and brings you back to Positano afterwards. Lunch is not part of the day.
