Private Pompeii, Vesuvius Hike and Cantina del Vesuvio Wine Lunch from Sorrento (7/7)

The day is private, with an English-speaking driver, an air-conditioned vehicle and bottled water, and the order is Pompeii first and Vesuvius second. A licensed guide leads the 2-hour morning visit to Pompeii and answers questions along the way. Lunch comes last, at Cantina del Vesuvio, a winery at the base of the volcano.

The Vesuvius hike starts from a parking area at about 3,000 feet and takes about 1 hour 20 minutes to the summit of the crater. At the winery, about 80 minutes go on a short walk through the vineyards and a lunch of regional specialties with Lacryma Christi, the wine known as Tears of Christ.

Entrance fees for Pompeii and Vesuvius, and the lunch itself, are paid separately. The Vesuvius tickets are sold only online and released one month before the date. A moderate level of fitness is needed, and the hike is impossible with a wheelchair.
