Only your own party rides in the car on this private day out from Rome. A Mercedes sedan takes up to two people and a Mercedes minivan takes larger groups, with an English-speaking driver and a hotel pickup in central Rome.

Pompeii comes first: a local guide leads a private two-hour tour on skip-the-line tickets, so the time goes on the streets and not in a queue. From there the road runs along the Amalfi Coast with several viewpoint stops, ending in Positano with two and a half to three hours to spend as you like. That is enough for the shops, a long lunch and, in summer, a swim or an hour on the beach.

Lunch is not included, so the Positano break is yours to plan. The car reaches Rome again at around 6:30 to 7:00 pm.

  1. Rome

    The English-speaking driver meets guests in the lobby of their Rome hotel. A breakfast stop breaks up the drive south.

  2. Pompeii

    A local guide spends two hours on the Roman Forum, the political, religious and social centre of ancient Pompeii. Skip-the-line tickets are included, and the talk centres on daily life before Vesuvius erupted.

  3. Amalfi Coast

    Between Pompeii and Positano the road passes lemon groves, sea cliffs and hillside towns. The driver stops at several panoramic viewpoints for photos.

  4. Positano

    Free time to walk Positano's streets, boutiques and craft shops. In summer there is time for the beach, or for lunch at a seaside restaurant.

  5. Rome

    The driver takes guests back to Rome and drops them directly at their hotel.
