A Mercedes-Benz minivan and an English-speaking driver stay with your party from start to finish, so the day runs on your pace rather than a coach schedule. The driver picks you up at your accommodation in Rome and also acts as a local source of tips on southern Italy.

The road south takes about three hours to Pompeii, where you explore the ruins on your own. A private licensed guide can be requested in advance for an extra cost. Lunch at a local trattoria follows, then the car continues to the Amalfi Coast for a drive along the road that links its seaside towns, with a couple of photo stops.

The last stop is yours to pick: Sorrento, for its clifftop sunsets and limoncello, or Positano, a vertical town of stairways and narrow lanes. The itinerary can be adjusted to your preferences. Entrance tickets, the guide and meals are paid separately.

What's included
