The day starts at Porta Marina Superiore, one of the main gates of the Pompeii ruins. When the visit to Pompeii ends, the group takes the local train to Herculaneum, and the train ticket is covered. From the station it is a walk of about 10 minutes to the archaeological site.
Entry tickets for the two sites are not part of the price, and neither is getting to Pompeii in the first place.
