  1. Archaeological Park of Pompeii

A vast archaeological site in southern Campania, near the Gulf of Naples. A thriving Roman city until Vesuvius buried it under meters of ash and pumice in 79 AD. Excavated streets and houses are open to explore.

  2. Foro de Pompeya

The center of daily life. The main public buildings for administration, justice and business, the markets and the main places of worship all face it.

  3. Tempio di Giove Capitolino

Dominates the north side of the Forum with Vesuvius behind it. Rebuilt after the colony was founded in 80 BC, with statues of Jupiter, Juno and Minerva on a high base.

  4. Macellum

The city food market, northeast of the Forum, built around a portico with a worship hall on the east side. Wall paintings show daily scenes such as selling fish and poultry, and mythological subjects.

  5. Via dell’Abbondanza

One of the main streets of Pompeii, linking the Forum with the Amphitheatre.

  6. Stabian Baths (Terme Stabiane)

The oldest baths in the city, built in phases from the 4th century BC. Men's and women's quarters have a dressing room and cold, warm and hot baths, heated by hot air from furnaces circulating in the walls and floors.

  7. Brothel of Pompeii

One of the best-known buildings of the excavations, with erotic paintings. The owner and slaves lived upstairs, and five rooms downstairs each have a built-in bed. The name comes from the Latin lupa.

  8. Teatro Grande

Built around the middle of the 2nd century BC and restored in Roman style, it staged Greek and Roman comedies and tragedies. It was the first large public building fully freed from the eruption deposits.
