Pompeii Day Trip from Naples by Bus with Skip-the-Line Tickets and English Guide (12/12)

The day starts in central Naples with a bus ride of about 40 minutes to Pompeii, and skip-the-line tickets are included. Pickup is at central Naples hotels, at Napoli Centrale station, or, for cruise passengers, at the Port of Naples terminal. The whole trip takes between 3.5 and 4.5 hours.

The 2-hour guided walk opens with the day of the eruption, August 24, 79 AD, when the emperor Titus learned that Vesuvius had destroyed Pompeii, Stabiae and Herculaneum. The guide shows the effects of the volcano and the layers of ash, tells how the city stayed hidden until the 18th century and was then excavated with funds from Charles III, future king of Spain, and goes on through the Forum, the baths, the lupanar with its erotic frescoes and the theater.

The guide speaks English. From November to March, groups of fewer than six people may get an English audio guide instead of a live guide. For organizational reasons the order of the itinerary can change. Departures at 7:45 or 8:00 am pick up only at the cruise terminal (Beverello pier, next to the Pícnic bar) and at Starhotels Terminus, Piazza Garibaldi 91.
