Pompeii and Vesuvius Small Group Day Tour from Naples with Archaeologist and Audioguide
The day starts at Mount Vesuvius, not at the ruins. A minibus leaves from outside the Starhotels Terminus, opposite Naples Central Station, and goes straight to the volcano. An audioguide and a tour leader accompany the hike to the crater edge, with the Bay of Naples spread out below.
Pompeii comes after a quick lunch stop. The visit is a two-hour walk with an archaeologist in a small group, with skip-the-line entry, through preserved homes, temples and public squares. The stops include the Basilica, the Granary, the Lupanar and both theatres.
There is no hotel pickup, and food and drinks are not included, so lunch is paid by the traveler. Children under 6 are not allowed, and the Vesuvius climb calls for at least a moderate level of fitness.
