The guide collects the group's pre-ordered tickets and walks the ruins for two hours. A pizza lunch with the group and some free time for the shops come before the 40-minute coach ride to Vesuvius, where a moderate hike climbs to the summit. Steam still rises from the crater, which is a reminder that the volcano is active.
Vesuvius guiding is guaranteed only in English, even though four languages are on offer. The tour needs a minimum of two participants a day to run, and a booking that falls short is offered an alternative or a full refund.

Archaeological Park of Pompeii
A 30-minute drive from the Naples pickup leads to Pompeii, buried by the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79 AD and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The guide collects the group's pre-ordered tickets and leads a 2-hour walk past the Forum, the Thermal Baths, Vetti's House and the Lupanare brothel. Shapes of objects, and even bodies, buried under ash and pumice are visible.

Vesuvius National Park
Pizza lunch with the group and some free time to browse the shops, then a 40-minute coach ride to Mt Vesuvius. A moderate hike with the guide reaches the summit at 3,900 feet (1,200 meters), with views of the Bay of Naples and steam rising from the crater. A rest point lets anyone who skips the final climb wait for the group. The drive back to Naples is in the early evening.
