The tour opens with a panoramic view over the whole archaeological park before going into the town, a useful way to read the layout of a small, well-preserved Roman city. More than 20 meters of volcanic material covered it, and the charred wood of doors, windows, beams and beds survived underneath.

A licensed guide who is an expert in archaeology leads the way through Roman houses, shops and baths, then down to the ancient beach, where about 300 people died while fleeing and whose skeletons can be seen today. The charred Roman boat is kept in a small museum outside the excavated area, and the Antiquarium can be visited if guests wish.

The tour suits travelers who want a quick overview of a well-preserved Roman city, people with mobility difficulties, families and lovers of Roman antiquities. Park admission is not included.
