Herculaneum 2-Hour Small Group Tour with a Licensed Guide, Ticket Not Included
Herculaneum was a residential town for the Roman upper class, smaller than Pompeii but richer. This two-hour small group walk is led by a guide licensed by Regione Campania, and the admission ticket to the site is not part of the booking.
Pyroclastic flows covered the town in about 80 feet of volcanic material in 79 AD. Pompeii fell to the same eruption, yet the two cities came out of it in very different condition, and the private houses here still carry their original decoration.
The route is built around those houses, the shops, the baths and the main street, and ends at the ancient waterfront.

Archeological Park of Herculaneum
The guide covers the main private houses (House of the Deer, House of the Wooden Partition, House of Neptune and Amphitrite, House of the Bicentenary), Roman shops, the public baths, the main street and the principal public buildings. The visit finishes at the ancient beach, where skeletons of people who sheltered in the seafront buildings were found, and where a wooden boat is still preserved.
