Six guests at most, or just your own party if you book the private option: that is the whole group on this walk through Pompeii with a working archaeologist. It runs about two and a half hours, and the order of stops can shift a little depending on what the archaeologist has on at the excavation that day.

Pompeii was a typical Roman town, founded around 80 BC. Vesuvius buried it under about 6 meters of ash in 79 AD, and it stayed off the map until 1599. The route goes through the houses of Menander, the Gladiators, Julia Felix, Loreius Tiburtinus, Sallust, the Tragic Poet and the Vettii, then the Lupanar, the Temple of Isis and the suburban baths. In each place the guide links what is standing to the digs that brought it back to light.
