An archaeologist leads this walk through Herculaneum, and the group stays small, with a maximum of six travelers per booking. The guide meets everyone at the park's ticket office and takes them along paved streets of a town that kept far more than Pompeii did: under the volcanic material of the 79 AD eruption, roofs, beds, doors, food and even skeletons survived.

The route includes the houses of Neptune and Amphitrite, the Deer and the Wooden Partition, the Samnite House, the College of the Augustales, the gymnasium and the public baths, as well as the ancient beach and the charred boat kept in its own pavilion. Frescoes in several houses still show their colors.

Park admission is not part of the booking. Wheelchair users should report it 24 hours before the visit.
