Naples MANN Guided Tour: Alexander Mosaic, Farnese Marbles, Ticket Included

The visit starts at the museum's main entrance at a time the visitor picks, with a short explanation of the building, a former cavalry barracks. Groups are capped at nine, and the entrance ticket is part of the price.

On the first floor the guide heads for the Mosaic collection and its best-known piece, the Alexander Mosaic, a huge depiction of the battle between Alexander the Great and Darius III of Persia. The ground floor holds the Farnese Collection. The Farnese Hercules and the Farnese Bull, both originally displayed at the Baths of Caracalla, are among its most impressive marbles.

The route also takes in the Bronzes from the Villa of the Papyri. Two sections may or may not be open on the day: the Secret Cabinet, which holds erotic items, and the Egyptian Collection.
