The catacombs lie just below the Sanità district. They began as the burial place of Saint Gaudiosus, a bishop from Tunisia, and over the centuries the tombs were extended to take in nobles and high-ranking Christian figures.
The guided visit lasts about 50 minutes and goes through the eerie crypt, back to the early days of Naples.
