Caserta Royal Palace and English Gardens Small Group Tour with Shuttle Bus
This tour covers both the palace interiors and the English Gardens, and a shuttle bus joins the two. The guided visit lasts three hours and starts with skip-the-line entry to the Reggia.
Charles of Bourbon, King of Naples, had the Reggia built in 1750, and the work on Luigi Vanvitelli's design ran for about a century, through the years before Italian unification. The palace has 1,200 rooms. The route climbs the Grand Staircase and passes through the Royal Apartments, with their frescoes, gold, chandeliers and baroque furniture, then reaches the chapel and the theater, a small version of Naples' Teatro San Carlo.
Outside, the gardens run toward the horizon with fountains, sculptures and waterfalls drawn from classical mythology. The shuttle takes the group to the English Gardens, where the guided part ends and visitors can stay on at their own pace.
