Baia Double Dive for Certified Divers among Sunken Roman Mosaics and Villas

This outing starts at the Subaia hub in the Port of Baia, where staff greet divers and a qualified instructor gives a short introduction to the basics of scuba diving. A five-minute ride then leads to the dive site, where divers gear up with tank, mask and snorkel and go in alongside the instructor.

Which areas of the Submerged Archaeological Park of Baia get visited depends on the day, the visibility and the sea conditions. Possible stops include the Nymphaeum of Claudius, Villa a Protiro, the Thermals of the Lacus and Villa dei Pisoni, each with preserved mosaics, columns and marble statues. The water here is 5 to 10 meters deep, and the site is often described as an underwater Pompeii.
